๐Ÿ””    Public Notice for the residents of the residents of the union Territory of Ladakh: Update of address information in Aadhaar, pursuant to Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019

(1)    Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), established under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of demographic information in the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR). 

(2)    Pursuant to the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, the ertwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, effective from October 31, 2019, and as notified in the official Gazette of India. The address details in the Aadhaar Number Holders (ANHs) in the UT of Ladakh continue to reflect "Jammu & Kashmir".

(3)    In accordance with Sections 6, 23, and 31 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016, and the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update)) Regulations, 2016, it is required to update the name of State/UT in the address field from 'Jammu & Kashmir' to 'ladakh' in the Aadhaar of affected ANHs with District name as 'Leh' or 'Kargil' and State name as 'Jammu & Kashmir'. The impacted PIN codes are 194101, 194102, 194103, 194104, 194105, 194106, 194109, 194201, 194301, 194302, 194401, 194402, 194403, 194404, 194107, 194202, 194303.

(4)    The affected ANHs, may intiate a voluntary update, if not already updated, of the State/UT name to 'Ladakh' within the sixty (60) days from the date of this public notification, by submitting an Aadhaar update request, throug the UIDAI website, app, or by visiting an Aadhaar centre.

(5)    Upon the expiry of the said period of sixty days, and in the absence of any voluntary update by AN, UIDAI shall be deemed to have obtained the consent of the ANH to carry out a limited suo motu update of the address field to reflect the correct State/UT name, i.e. Ladakh. Along with the State/UT name, Aadhaars having obsolete PIN codes namely 194402, 194403, 194404, 194105 will be mapped to correct PIN codes namely 194107, 194303, 194202, 194103 respectively. No changes will be made to individual-specific elements of the address such as house number, building name, locality, or any other personal data. 

(6)    Post update, the affected ANHs will be notified via SMS or email, and ANHs may download their updated Aadhaar through UIDAI Portal. The updated Aadhaar letter will also be dispatched by post to that address of ANHs which will be available in the UIDAI database.
